Almost Me v2
Description: I took up a render from 2009 I did with Bryce 6.1, http://www.bryce5.com/details.php?image_id=4064 when we had still very coarse IBL. This one, I could render directly without masks and backdrop picture. This is the true HDRI in the background. I've moved Michael 4 in the car so that one hand is at the wheel and used some DOF to melt the Bryce made bridge into the background.

Horo, the image is an obvious improvement over the previous one. For example the dof applied here works nicely as intended. The overall brightness also helps for blending the probe with the 3d. The perspective hasn't changed but that's I guess for us to have a clean comparison on both entries - old and new. Shadows I prefer to be more darker. That - in sense of having the sunlight barely "sneaking" from the top left into the camera making dark areas darker. You know - as taking photos while facing the sun.
No qualms really, technically - that is the perfect hdri + 3d blending. The other image is just as well presented.

Thank you richter. Shadow darkness is always a bit subjective. If looked on a real scene, shadows are seldom deep, if taken with a fast film, they can get almost black.

Yes Waleed, the glass for the light on the Land Rover is not very good.

The water is full of sediments and hence the colour. It is natural - we call it "glacier milk".

You may not yet have understod the concept of image based lighting. This is a render with natural light. You can find the spherical panorama used to light the scene and provide the backdrop here:

Shadow and colour are natural. There is no light that is more natural than the natural light.
