Cold Mountain Lake
Description: This is my first post here at Bryce5.com, i have been playing around with Bryce for about six months now when ever time permits. A big thank you to Horro and David Brinnen for all the wonderful tutorials they have posted. I still do not know what i am doing but without them i would know even less.

Isle and background mountains are just great. It appears as if there was a road at right leading up to an alpage. Lighting is also very good and the sky looks quite natural. Just the water - it doesn't make me happy even though I couldn't say if there is something wrong with it and if, what. It just doesn't convince me.

You made a great start!

I can fully subscribe to Horo's view. Even the water does not bother me. It looks if there are ice plates floats on the water.
Only one little thing. The trees on the snowy peak on the right side. First they are a little too big to give the illusion of a fareway peak and second I think in this area there are no trees anymore. But this is carping on a high level.

Thank you Horo and Electro.
I really need to spend more time with my water effects, this is one area that i am still trying to figure out. I used the instancing lab for the trees on the mountains, a little to much i think, it was hard to figure out where to remove the trees from, so i decided to stop while i was ahead, Thanks again.

A good start certainly! The lighting and choice of materials is fitting. The water, I can see what Horo means, but at the same time, maybe with the addition of some floating debris it would not look out of place at all. It looks to be both flowing and silted perhaps?

If you poke around in the render options, you will find on the right of the box a little control called "reflection correction" engaging this can have a dramatic impact on the appearance of "bumpy" water. I cannot guarantee it will have any impact on your scene, it is a very new control and the way it works is rather obscure even to a so called "expert" like myself. But it can sometimes "fix" water when it looks slightly wrong and you can't put your finger on why.

One other tip, don't be put off by criticism, you will never please all of the people all of the time - that's just life. Well done!
