Yes, the rough edges make this look like diamonds. Nicely done.

Oh yes, this is very nice. Very angular and crystaline in appearance. I might think that a greater range of colors might be good, perhaps some lights of varying colors. Whatever settings you are using for the crystal they seem to be spot on! This image is not fully anti-aliased. Though AA takes time, you cannot skip this step as when I look carefully at the image I see the pixelation which destroys the illusion a bit. For me, the idea of not using AA to harden the edges was the wrong direction. Imagine a knife, the edge is as smooth as possible, Pixelation does not make crystal look harder, just pixelated. You need AA to make sure your crystal edges are sharp along diagonal lines. Only AA fixes curves and diagonal lines.
