The Golden Dawn
Description: Got the sun in the image but didn't really feel it was shining right into my eyes - so to speak. So, here's how it works. Took a 2D disc and put it right in front of the camer. Applied Standard Glass, set the Refraction to 100 and turned down Specularity to 5 - the result - well as you can see... the speculative highlight spills out right over the sun and it's reflection. For greater dazzle ramp up the specularity and for weird tinting effects modify the colour of the specular and it's halo - but if you do that you may have to modify the sun colour to make it look plausable and increase the specularity. Worthwhile?

Beautiful

The style looks a bit different from your other images for some reason, but that doesn't mean the image isn't good! I love the water firstly, the flow and look of it is jaw dropping. I like the sun and fog effects, they seem to be mixed together to create a greater picture overall. The landscapes too are also very nice.
Wonderful picture all round, full marks.

Style...

Well, you see, looking around some rendering websites I came across this package under development called Terragen and decided to give it a whorl - thing is, as I understand it, as yet it only does water, mountains and sky - but it does them very well. So having had a play and liked the effect I decided to try and duplicate the lighting water etc style in bryce. This is one of my attempts - still not a natural as Terragen, but I will keep trying. Others are interspersed in the new web pages I've put up on my site. :o) Also the water material is available for download in the free resources section!

Terragen

I've heard of this program and i've seen some pictures done with it. The water and sky effects come out very well like you said, and the landscapes in my opinion can be easily duplicated with bryce, just need some time to fiddle with the terrain editor ^_^ Sky effects however are much more difficult, and the water too, but you seem to have done a good job on duplicating :O
I've also heard that in Terragen the sun can be made to have streaming rays of light, which I have tried to do on bryce but it eats your machines memory up like crazy, and slows the program down enormously.

I'll see if I can get a hold of Terragen and see how it works and of what it can do :)

Yes try it and tell us what you think

The lighting is amazing - really real, but it's a bit of a one trick pony - and no GUI interface takes some getting used to. But like I say the lighting and clouds are hmmmm nice.
