Passing Storm (ver. 2)
Passing Storm (ver. 2)

Passing Storm (ver. 2)
Description: Rendered with Carrara 6 Pro. Background is the same, character was reworked (was testing posing capability in C6). Grass of course made with dynamic hair. I don't know how to use the modeling tools on hair yet, but the texture controls are pretty straight forward and very powerful. I think the curve and sway turned out pretty well.

Excellent! 5/5. On a side note there was a hacker who attacked the site a short time ago, the day after you joined to be exact. Nightst4r had to restore the site and in doing so some recent entries were lost, namely yours. If you would be willing to re-submit those wonderful renders of yours it would be appreciated. Your work is very good and it would be a shame for it to be lost ofrever to

The only critique is that there should be some grass on the other hills as well, not just in front of the camera.

this one is much better,
however, the lighting is much too dark to look real, considering that clouds are covering much of the light I would just use sky light. it has to be enough so that we could see the details in the shadowed areas. aslo, I think you should increase the number of steps in the hair by 4 at list I can see where they bend as of right now. Overall this is a great piece with some great looking clouds, if those are volumetric could you increase the quality a bit, they look a little grainy.

Grass is greatly inproved over the previous version, but I think I prefer the light in the last one. The shadows here seem too dark, almost black, on the figure and the clouds are a rather sallow yellow colour and as Gat observed, somewhat grainy. Good work never the less!

What more could I add, let's see.. Very good mountains, with their material, positioning and shape. Did you made those in Carrara? The haze is not too much and looks well balanced when compared with the hills' green nuances. I agree with Rashad about putting grass on those hills, and even more trees would be nice. The clouds I like very much. I can really feel the storm passing. The feathers on the indian guy's spear and the grass tips are blown in the same direction, which is a nice detail to observe. I can suggest you for increasing this feeling of a real atmosphere and wind, to put some leaves, slivers/twigs in the air around the character and over some parts of the grass. This piece of yours has enormous potential and just a few more tweaks will make it really outstanding. Keep going!

richter - yep, the mountains and hills are all C6. Very little mat tweaking. I was originally thinking the mid hills were far enought away to let the mat stand on it's own without grass. That's probably not the case. Looks like I'll have to finish up this WIP, thanks for the comments.
