Black & White

Black & White
Description: Black and white - the source file was "Cold Universe", modified, the main idea changed. You see the rest. The ground plane has Frosted Mirror material applied, the spheres on the left have Haematite on them, same texture on the right-half of the symbol. Diamond mat with refraction 300 for the rest, and the metal ring around the Yin-Yan has David's Polished iron material. No secondary light sources were used, no TIR, default sun disabled, just IBL (8/48/100) "Uffizi_probe.hdr" (the darker version), again rendered with no shadows 16rays/pixel, render time = 20mins. The postwork consist of the frame and the slight light-glow where the sky is reflected.

so real

You have a great mastery of this type of scene set up. It is beautiful, so very beautiful. I love when you do these types of shots. Your techniques really shine through. It's a 5/5. WOW!

Difficult to fully appreciate the form of the Yin Yang because the Uffizi is reflected on it. I wonder how this would look like without having the HDRI rendered as background. Perhaps, the dark and bright light would look completely different on the objects and on the ground. And this black-white colour choice is of course what Yin Yang is all about. The Frosted Mirror material is excellent here. Hard not to give you full marks.

Very realistic in my eyes.

I like how realistic it looks. I'm not much of an artist yet but to me it seems very realistic hmmmm I wouldn't mind having a pendant like it. Is David's polished iron material in the exchange? hmmm I shall have to see for myself : ) Very good work....stunning.

You have done well to use such reflective materials with the IBL. Often the effectiveness of the two seem to cancel each other out - or so I have discovered in my own experiments. Yes this is a very striking image and I see no reason why I should not add to the 5's.

I'm happy you liked it! Thank you all. This one took about 3 hours to setup (modeling, placing, texturing incl.). David, I know what you mean - when I had to move the cam few angles in a direction, it was followed by multiple Ctrl-M-ing and ballancing the Diffusion, Reflection and so on options of the materials over and over again.
Horo, perhaps it will also work without the backdrop. And this time the secondary lights might come in handy.
