Gletscherabbruch (End of Glacier)
Description: The glacier breaks to an end with a small lake at its foot and a river bringing the melted water to the sea to close the ethernal water cycle. Noteworthy is the use of David's modified Firn/N?v? left and right of the fall. This part looks the most natural.

nice

love the idea. The only thing that confuses me is the snowed mountains in the very back, but after looking at it for a while i noticed that what i thoght was some sort of pixelation is actually the shadows from the several mounts on the mountains. I say a smoother mountain will make that go away, but if that is the look you wanted I retract this coment. Other than that is pretty kool!

Yup

Tks, yes I think, I overdid that coarsness of the background mountains a bit. Its a 1024 terrain, but rather large.

That foreground terrain material looks interesting, however the greens are a bit harsh overall things are predominately to far towards the blue end of the spectrum - maybe a better sky/lighting combination would help matters. Your ideas for landscapes are always very good, but I think you need to fiddle with your terrain heightmaps a bit longer - the rocks seem a bit too pointy - I was surprised to hear you say that you were using such large resolution terrains since you would have thought that would have cleared up any pixilation effects - I was wondering if you were remembering that the procedural heightmaps are generated at the resolution that it is currently set and that if you wish to increase the resolution then you need to "lock off" the fractal generator and regenerate the fractal (which can be horribly slow at big rez) for the new size. If that sounds like gibberish I appologize and ask me to explain better.

Surprises

I don't know what happened to the terrain. Thanks to an earlier comment of yours, I know about regenerating after changing resolution and patiently waited the minutes it took. I think, the terrain I finally settled on was choosen with not enough consideration. I've concentrated too much on materials and textures, lately.

Yes, the green appears a bit too fresh (or, as we put it:?giftig? = poisoneous). Ice mirrors the colour of the sky and gets a blue hue at times. To get that hue right is not easy. And then, sometimes you see in nature colours you wouldn't believe, if you've seen it on a photograph.

About the green. I live in Indiana and I've seen it after the snow starts to melt, and the green looks fine to me. looks like spring!
