Eeek
Description: Really struggled to get anything like convincing fleshtones here. Lots of post production filtering to try to ellivate plastic look. Any words of wisdom would be welcome. Oh the bee came from Daz. Figure is poser. The beach material is out of the "scrub" pot.

Girl

The girl looks a bit too shiney.. her head exp. her shoulders look a little more out of focus then i'd expect.. Also I think that Brinnen attention to detail aspect woudl be best realized here if she had like sand on her feet...

Just a few of my ideas =)

Sand on feet...

I like the way your thinking! I'll see what I can do. As you can see I've only just got to the point where I can give my figures some hair (thanks to wings3d) so putting sand on their feet, well I'll have to think about that one. I'm not sure how to tackle the plastic shiny problem, I've hardly ever used UV mapping I usually go for procedural materials maybe if I cross the two... Yes, I'll give that a whorl. Thanks for the Brinnen attention to detail aspect ;oP

looks good

one thng i worked out when working witha poser model, is if you add a small amount of bump mappiung to it (i like cliffy sand) it seems to gve a more lifelike aperance.

also i found that when you export from poser, if you xport it as a .obj file, it lets you keep the same textures that poser had on it. (except for the eyes, there is an outer oating fo the eyes, that you need to give a glass like material to.

oh by the way, damn good job as usual

Bene Geserit

Thanks to the defocusing, body and limps look good to me. I don't get the plastic feel here. The head, however, disturbs me. The hair starts too far back from the forehead. That's more fitting for a gentleman than a lady (I can tell) and reminds me of that Bene Gesserit from Dune

I also have qualms about the face. It is like cut in wood. Too sharp, particularly the eyes. The deep saddle at the root of the nose (between the eyes) is more like the one of a child. The ears, however, are incredible -- perhaps a triffle too slanted.

Congrats David -- you came a long way since your ?clayman?.

The bee

If it wasn't for the bee I would have said that she looks stupid(as a character) but...
WTF is that bee doing there? We are talking about the beach, right? Seeing a bee is not impossible but it's definetly not something I'm used to see on a beach...

However the graphic is (as always) great.

The stare

Looking at that pic for the second time, I found the answer for the necessity of the bee: without it, the stare of the lady would be lifeless and artificial. Smashing idea of yours, if you did it on purpose.
