It's mine all mine!
Description: In answer to the KillingArmyMan challange posed on my Space image - "No, I can't do a dragon in metaballs" this is a Poser Raptor but in my own defence I will say that all the materials are my own creation, including the sky. I know I'm not as clever as I thought I was, and now you do too! Thanks for the challange, it's good to try things out that you usually wouldn't, you always learn more that way - I've learned that I should leave moddeling with metaballs to those that have the skill!

Cute

Cute T-Rex. Amazing detail and superb surroundings: light, water, heavens. Something looks wrong to me though -- as if the Trexy was put into the scene with PS or so: I miss some melting of water and tail. It seems as if the tail were hoovering. It might be intentional. You took the challenge and lived up to it. With almost every pic you come up with, you seem to excel yourself. Astonishing!

Cheers

Yes I had a go at posing in Poser, I was basing the posture on my cats - when they attack their scratching post, ye know, get their claws right around it to kind of hug it their tails sort of lift up a bit at the base of the spine and the rest just sort of hovers - I was trying to get that sqeezing action like it was hugging the gold. Maybe I should have based the posture on a differnt beast, but I only have cats and cacti so... I think your right I would have been better to go for a more relaxed posture. My problem is, I've only just got my head around bryce and now I am faced with learning another piece of software from scratch - and I still haven't figured how to get poser dynamic hair into bryce - but to be fair I haven't looked very hard. Just put hats on my figures - or stick to animals!

Oh, terrains

I usually use two terrains, one for the foregound and one for the distance - make them big and detailed and always use my own materials which are carefully designed to add the illusion of extra detail anyhow. I image it takes between two and five hours to make a decent terrain material - but that being said, once that's done they can be reused them endlessly so it is worth investing the time to get it just right.
