Disturbing

Disturbing to the eye. First, I've seen most of the balls as white-grey-blak and some at the right colour. When trying to find out the pattern, all became white-blue-black-yellow out of a sudden. This thing looks extremely 3D. They do not move, but rotate at times. Very interesting idea, creates funny illusions.

Oh, my aching head!

Trying to figure this one out. when you look at one, the rest move! but if you stare at a fixed point not moving your eyes, then they all stop! also, they do not move when you look at them from far away! aack!

it has to do with the receptors in ur eyes

The cones act dif. from the rods.. the rods are the ones u focus with.. they don't get the illusion of movement. if u wait long enough, the receptors will adjust and it stops moving.. good effect though =)

Original

Nice one!
I love those optical illusions.
This one looks a bit like the 'rotating snakes' you can find here.

Yep!

That's exactly where I ripped the idea. The periferal vision has less cones than the fovia that is true but the effect is due to the time delay in getting a response from certain frequencies and the fact that periferal vision is more heavily processed/compressed than in the fovial area. It's interesting though.
