Bryce Encounters... of the third kind?
Description:	A while back Valor produced a series of interesting images which involved using terrains as clouds/skies. Well, I thought I would give it a whorl. Not quite as described, instead of applying a pict I decided to make my own material - but essentially the rippley clouds are a terrain. All bryce5 - that's just a comment for any purists out there. :0)

Very Dramatic

Better hated than ignored -- I see, I'm still remembered :) This sky is very dramatic and impressive. Particularly so the ring around that volcano-like mountain. It must be still emanating hot air to drill that hole into the heavy clouds and produce the ripples. Or is there a powerful mage at work? (The second chronicles of Thomas Covenant come to mind). Dark and heavy contrast. To get the light right must be tricky. The waves in the foreground give the queer impression of falling down a few steps. It fits the strangeness of this place perfectly, which is not just round the corner as far as I can tellr.

At a loss for words

This scene is simply amazing. I have been staring at the screen for thirty minutes trying to absorb it. I can't even phathom how something like this could be made in Bryce. The only other thing I can say is that this picture deserves much more than the five I gave. I think i have found a new desktop. If this were a print, I would buy it.

P.S. Thanks for the reference it means alot. Do know any good tutorials on how to make materials. I can alter them well, but nothing from scratch.
