Round Stones
Description: Two terrains with materials from the High Resolution Terrain Set 2, two BTO trees, eight trees for the stones from the Beneath the Waves set with materials from the High Resolution Terrains Set 3 and the grass is also a tree, instanced five times. Sky and ambient light by the ErmClouds05_SD HDRI from the Sunless HDRI set (everything available from Daz 3D), and the key light from the sun. Bryce trees are very versatile, even grass and stones can be made with them.

Nicely done, Sir!

I agree that trees are great for grass, but what is the advantage of using trees as rocks, instead of the basic stones from the Create menu? Or even Metaballs? Does a tree respond differently somehow?

Actually these stones remind me of Goblin Valley, Utah - not too far from Bryce Canyon......

Thank you Raven. Well, first of all Bryce is very versatile, using (or abusing) things is interesting for experimentation and learning. There can be made a plethora of different rocks by changing the base tree (I'm currently writing a PDF on the subject that will eventually make it on my website at https://horo.ch > Bryce & 3D CG Documents). Secondly, I'm not very fond of the Bryce stones, they are quite angular, a lattice is sometimes the better choice, or even modeled outside Bryce. Though it depends on whether the rock is in the distance or shown close up.
