Description: 500hrs and 62% into the render and it chrashed, the rest of the image is faked focal length with PSP7 because until I get my hands on a much faster machine I'm not rendering this... one again. Oh no. Model built entirely from meta spheres and it took a very long time indeed.

.....

That is amazing detail! however, you should'nt render things with such deep rays. I can't belive it took that long! that is very nice

Bloody amazing

wow. 500 hours, and damn was it worth the wait. That's the best bryce render i've ever seen, and the most realistic. Full marks, amazing.

Burning metal

I have questions...

-What kind of CPU and video card do you have?

-How many metaballs is that made of?

Cheers!

I'm glad to see that you don't think I've wasted my time - and thankfully, I seem to have got away with my patching! As to the number of metaspheres, that would be 48 with a 2d disc and an infinite plane, so 50 objects in all. I had to use extra ray depth (12) otherwise due to the number of objects being penetrated the splash was coming out with black regions in it and I had TIR ticked to the standard depth (2). My computer has 512mb ram and a 2.4 p4 processor, as far as I know the graphic card you use has no impact on the render time (although it can help in moddeling stages if is supports direct3D or openGL). I would like to know if anyone has conducted experiments with different graphics cards and reported render time but in my experiance the difference must be small I have tried a number of cards in the process of troubleshooting for friends computers and noticed no difference. Oh and I can't believe it took as long as it did either but there you go, I started the render three weeks ago, which calculates as far as the reported hours of processor time - right up until my computer crashed - just imagine what choice words came out of my mouth when that happened!

Couldn't resist the pun? :0)

Yes, well, it's not so bad when you've got plenty of work to be getting on with - it would have been impossible if I'd got time on my hands, instead of tile adhesive... Maybe come winter I'll get to grips with wings3D - or I'll be playing Half life2...

Render time

To my understanding, graphic card is only used for the live render. Some of the newer cards can perform functions for you, but it would not come back, it would run right out the card in real time. In bryce's case I think its completely processor speed based.

Fantastic!!!!!

This is an incredible work!!!!

500 hours?! YIKES! So much for making it animated. LOL

My Trisphericon AVI is only 38% complete and it's already taken 18 hours. Here's to hoping I don't have a crash. I'm hoping the file won't be too large to post. If so I'll have to speed it up to 15 seconds with only 225 frames or so. Even at that speed it should look incredible. ;-)

I love this one, David! It's really fine work! BRAVO!!!!!
