Going Home
Description: I am a Bryce Purist but about a decade ago i used to make models for Bryce using LightWave 3D. At that time my Bryce modelling skills were not as good as they are now and Bryce also did not have MetaBalls [they came with versions 5].

So this is a Bryce 4 Reloaded Job done in 7.1 and using one of my special wide angle lenses not to mention colour filters and much else.

Lots of post work all done ONLY in Bryce!

I had to split the image in two and reassemble it in Bryce because the composit plate limit is 1024 and this image is wider then that.

You can probably spot the seam running vertically down the middle.

I am still pleased with this one because it would have been hard to do all that post work in Photoshop.

There is an insert [bottom right] of the LightWave Alien ship i created a long time ago.

Thanks slepalex

I thought it was a good subject to experiment with Bryce-ONLY post work. Actually the basic single pass Bryce render looks pretty good. But i just wanted to experiment and do Photoshop-type things in Bryce.

Thanks ignatius

Perhaps it is dynamic for two reasons:

(1) My background is digital cinematography [animation]. So i look at every render in terms of what came before and what will come after.

(2) The use of a very wide angle lens with proper perspective [which means you have to create your own OIP system - it does not come with Bryce ready made]. So some ships are flying at the camera and others are flying away from it [actually they are ALL flying together in a straight formation].

It is very difficult to place or edit anything in such a scene, because the wire-frame view does not match the lens view.

Thanks Horo

With this one i was mainly concerned with composition and dynamics.

But i also wanted to fiddle with what everyone else does in Photoshop - [post work], but in my case i wanted to do this ONLY in Bryce.

As a Bryce Purist, i was not worried about having a Lightwave3D Mesh Object in my scene. That was because, i build the Ship myself, so i have a right to use my own work for my own experiments.

The composition [you say is "great"] is for me always the most important factor.

But Composition is treated differently in Static Renders compared with Digital Cinematography Frames. If your background is Digital Cinematography you would tend to create static works [Picture Renders] differently to someone who does only computer painting [as if painting a picture on canvas or taking a photograph].

It is important never to forget that Bryce 7.1 Pro is a 4D application and is designed for Digital Cinematography [which i have been doing even with Bryce 2]. And although compared to other 4D apps which have all those 4D wiz bang features Bryce does not have, we should never belittle it.
