Planter
Description: Just thought I'd try something different to my usual stuff.
I made the pot with a little program called Metasequoia, the Ivy on the wall was made with a free program called Ivy Generator by Thomas Luft, the wall was made with Bryce primitives and the flowers are partly Bryce and partly free from
Archive3d.net.
Used a bit of depth of field to blur the surroundings and try and keep the flowers sharp.
Spent hours on it but it still doesn't look as real as I would have liked.

Looking nice but I see what you mean. I think the shadows are a bit deep. I'm also not sure the angle of view is ideal. DOF came out quite well, though.

Thanks Horo. Whatever it is I'm not really happy with it.
As for the viewing angle, let's pretend a 3-4 year old child is sitting in his/her buggy showing a very early appreciation for flower arranging. :)

Somehow it does capture the idea of realism. It also seems like a couple of photographs were layered in a 2d application. Yes, the shadows should be less deep as one would expect that bright light from the sun would strike nearby surfaces and add some light to the dark areas, but often we manipulate photos for contrast and often fry away the illumination in the shadows trading it for a darker shadow to add more contrast. So for me this attempt overall does seem reasonably realistic.

Thanks rashadcarter1. I spend so much time messing with light to try and get it right, but by the time I've finished I end up with it looking worse than when I started a lot of the time.
