A place to hide
Description: With this one i try to fake the illusion of a vue render. I think i'm not so far with this result. It's my new approch with bryce and for this one i've use David grass technic. I also use a lot of composition with the vegetation.

All the trees are from Xfrog bundle (europe1-2 or 3). Cloudscape from David Brinnen. Beetle from the web and house tree modeled by me in bryce. Barrier modeled in wings 3d. Birds from terragen.

TA render (64 rpp) with scattering correction and boost light on. Approximatly two days to render on my i7 core @ 3.6 ghz. The whole scene is taking about 3.4 gb of memory usage with l.a.a.

Hope you like it.

Simply grandiose scene. Excellent composition and beautiful rendering. Modeling is higher than any praises. It is a pity that my computer won't be able to overcome such memory size and time of a render. What size of the file?
Excellent assessment!

Well i have Vue 10 and i can honestly say you have done a excellant render if not for the mountains in the background you would hard pressed to tell the difference between Bryce and Vue, The whole scene is beautifully created accomanied by Davids beautiful volume clouds, ( I need to get those )Your skills as a digital artist are impressive whatever medium you choose to use. One question ? did you use the instancing lab for the grass's ?

Not sure where. First the lighting...its terrible. What happened? The grass looks like nothing and those clouds...totally awful.

Just kidding! Everything, every single decision you made here looks better than expected. You did a brilliant job of the lighting, looks about like real life. David's grass trick is working most convincingly here. The blend transparency nature of it is what drives up the render times. Blend trans and cluster light forms such as IBL and Domes dont get along well. In fact blend trans is about the slowest rendering function in the entire toolset, unfortunate in situations like this one. Still. it's very hopeful and the look is super. Your vegetation arrangement is perfect, leaves nothing to be desired. This image could well have been rendered in Vue if not for the Bryce clouds, which I recognize instantly and which work very well here.

Masterful work. So glad to see you back at the swing of it with Bryce. I am in awe, thank you for this work!

Full marks and then some!!!!

Ah back at Bryce and with such a wonderful not-bryce-looking render. I'm not a Vue-er so I can't tell whether you've accomplished faking a Vue render or not.

Everything looks just great. The main tree is beautifully done - well, in fact, everything. Maybe the far mountains could have been left out, making this rather a flat environment, not a wide valley. 5/5

Well it's mostly been said, so I can only add how impressed I was to see this was Bryce and not, as at first I thought, a vue render. Then doubly pleased that you used my tutorial and clouds!

Constructively the only thing I would suggest modifying were the mountains, they don't match up to the ultra high standard set by the rest of the image. Then you only have yourself to blame for that by setting such a high standard!

Certainly, it goes without saying, full marks. 5/5

Thank you all for your constructive comments.

Slepalex : The .br7 file size is about 700 Mb and i'm surprise that i don't have a crash after saving it.. i cross fingers each time i save.

STKydd : I have use instancing lab for the grass only in the foreground. The background was produce by using Davids trick :

Yes Rashad and Horo, i'm back to bryce but it's because all of you given me the desire to get back to it with your fabulous work!!

David, your experiment with the soft is just fantastic and it's a pleasure to watch your tutorial, all and all are very instructiv. I know i have to change the mountains and it'll be done in the final render at 4000 pixels wide.

When it'll be finished i'll send you all this picture as a "gift" if you like it. Just tell me.

Cheers.

Thank you C-ram, that would be a very nice gift and at that kind of resolution, I'll be able to have it properly printed and stick it on my wall!

Cheers,

David.

What an intention. To make a bryce render that looks like a Vue render. :-D I only can agree with my previous speakers. You did it! A smashing bryce scene!

Would you be so kind and tell me where you got these terrific flowers. Maybe they come with the Xfrog bundle?
