Excellent render Stephen! The rotten wood and light rays look fantastic. The DOF is perhaps making the boat appear more like a model, if you want to use DOF then it might help to have a subject closer to the camera that is the focus of the scene or to use somewhat less of the effect.

Excellent render indeed and very nice composition and colours. It could only be improved if DOF was removed. Full marks nevertheless.

Thank you both, the DOF was intended to cover up where the sky meets the water on the horizon, it just did not seem right to me, after looking back at my set up, i had the DOF set to the light beams instead of the boat, DOF is one of those things i need to work more with to get the hang of it, Thanks

I can really sense the atmosphere. Nice evening colors, nice choice of wood for the boat. To me the dof works very good with the only qualm of having portion of the sky in focus - that isn't right. Being much farther away from camera, the sky ought to also be blurred by the dof. I believe you have a 2D flat cloud layer which is not scaled properly and is too near to the camera. Obviously that is easy to fix by rescaling and moving. Good work nontheless.

Thanks Richter, yes you are correct i did use a 2D flat cloud layer and it is very close to everything, i did not notice at the time that the sky id not contain the DOF.
