Description: These models were made in Wings3D and rendered in Bryce 7.1 Pro. The material reflections come from one of Horo's HDRI backdrops (Treppenhalle 2) and the specular response from a radial light. For the global lighting arrangements things get a little bit more "obscure". HDRI lights from inside a TA optimised gel light which in turn is "read" through TA scatter correction and boost light to produce a highly effective GI from the HDRI which is not dependant on creating a large number of simulated light sources.

If you want to know more about this method. I have made a few tutorials about that and a few other Bryce related things.

I like this a lot. Very photographic. Really like the marks on the blade so it looks used. Nice.

Amazing! Very nice work in both the modeling and the rendering. The chromatic like effect seems like oxidation, like what happens when you allow metal to be heated quickly. Usually the swirly rainbow pattern isnt perspective depended as the oxidation is burned into the metal. In the case above I feel like maybe the effect is introduced as specular making it somewhat perspective dependent, seems this might have worked more naturally in the diffuse channel? Anyhow, I am clutching at straws, this is a fine render very little to complain about. Bravo as always.

Thank Rashad, and yes, you are spot on about the swirly rainbow, it's anisotropic specular. I was trying to create a tortoiseshell effect in the material, to give it a sense of glossy depth.
