Calculator and Magnifying Glass.
Description: All Bryce primitives and Elefont text.
This is different to normal calculators as they are numbered from bottom to top, who knows why. Also shows text on the display and not numbers. On this size you can just about see the text on the ring around the magnifying glass, easier on the bigger version. Although it's not a really detailed image and doesn't have much in the scene it still took 5 hours 55 minutes to render.

I like all the little details with the text. And the materials work very well. Indeed it is difficult to find fault, except to express some surprise over the length of the render time for what as you point out, is an apparently simple scene. Still it was worth it, it has all turned out nicely.

Thanks David. I was surpprised over the render time but I could do with a faster PC.

Well, Stuart, I can honestly say I've never heard any render artist say they couldn't do with a faster PC! But also, I see what you mean. No TA rendering for you then?

Correct. Added to the fact that I'm really impatient waiting for things. May be one day though.

Looks great for the time spent rendering it. If you ever got a more powerful system you;d probably go back and crank up the lighting quality. But until then I think it looks great as is. I do wonder about the buttons, they seem somehow unexpectedly concave along the vertical sides. Is this an illusion of some sort? I really like the lensing effect, for me that is perfect. Very nice!

Thanks rashadcarter1. Yes the buttons are strange, they have a negative torus around them to give them a groove, just thought as the rest is slightly different to a normal calculator I'd make the buttons different too.

Excellent modelling and superbly lit. Once you have a faster PC, render time will not be shorter - you'll start to use some premium effects the new machine can handle - and you'll end up waiting long for your renders to finish. Though it might look even better and the result makes you happier.

Thanks very much Horo.
I'm going to have to be more patient as well I think.

Well, i can very much echo what's been said already. I'll only add how nice the lcd-display turned out and how nice the texture on the magnifier's handle is, very nice lacquered wood.
