Bryce 7.1 Pro - Birds in Flight 2012
Description: A remake of a scene http://www.bryce5.com/details.php?image_id=2745&mode=search made in 2007 and rendered in Bryce 6 using many conventional radial lights.

This scene updated today, rendered with three TA optimised gel lights driven by a spherically mapped ( Spherical Mapper ) capture of the HDRI backdrop and one blocking gel to isolate the TA rendering from the IBL backdrop which drives the reflections. Bryce sun provides specular only to drive material specular response. In essence the same approach as taken in this video Bryce 20 minute scene lighting project - Using IBL with boost light and TA gels - by David Brinnen

I like this.

Love the origami, and the coaster reminds me of my kid when they were little. We had very similar ones.
You also reminded me that I broke my glasses this morning.

Thanks.

Perfectly, David!
Possibly, the gel texture is necessary for a still life to receive interesting reflections in glass and metal. But it is absolutely not necessary for a landscape. As the raster texture increases file size and time of a render.
I now do a landscape in which the texture in Radial Light and in the sphere is absent. The sphere serves too for additional lighting, but not only! It is one more idea.

Yes I think so. Mostly TA is best suited to still life, in the landscape direct light from IBL has many advantages. Generally faster, greater contrast range more easily achieved, dealing with bumpy (noisy) material hides shadow banding issues. TA for still life is good because it can deal with very smooth materials well, highlights complex geometry of models and can easily combine with other premium effects - for example - DOF.

Comparing with the previous one, this one has more contrast and is generally more pleasing.

Thank you Horo, and for me, the improvement lies in the shadows.
