Women In The PfynJungle
Description: Thanks to the advice of friendly Bryce users I achieved my scene.
I had quiet to do a bit of postwork, after I exported the characters from DAZ Studio as an OBJ-file and imported it into Bryce. Especially the hair and the eye lashes. But the most problem I had with the eyes. I never got the same eye color, like in DAZ Studio. I finally found out, that I had to set "Blend transparancy" in the material editor. But there is still room for improvement.

The rest is made in Bryce. A dome light provides the light for the faces and a spot light provides the sunny patches on the ladies.
The nice bark texture comes from the library and is made by Bryce Guru David Brinnen and the HDRI background is made by Bryce Wizard Horo
The DOF effect for the leaves only is not Bryce. First I also wanted to do this with it, but the render times increased in stratospheric heights. Therefore I deciced to choose another approach. I rendered it with the default render settings and made the DOF with Photoshop (gaussian blur).

Does indeed look very good, it is a pity the DAZ 3D Bryce gallery is down otherwise I would suggest you submitted it. You have managed to blend the HDRI image with your Bryce scene and I know from experience this is not an easy thing to achieve. Well done!

On the DOF front, I might have something up my sleeve to help with that. After some pondering I came up with an optimised method.

That's your basics http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahiyabdeUBI&feature=plcp and here's a cunning way of doing it in about 1/20 of the time, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cs13Mu1MBT0&feature=plcp although clearly not everyone approves.

Thank you very much for your friendly comment and the hint for the DOF optimization.

I tried something different. I rendered the scene once without the ladies but with DOF and the then with the ladies but without DOF (in the standard render mode). At the end I selected the ladies and made an object mask. In the end I tried to mix the 2 scenes and the mask in photoshop to a reasonable whole. But I was not totally satisfied with the result. The ladies did not integrate smoothly in the scene, the antialiasing went lost.

I think this came very well, the HDRI and DOF look really good to me, and the figures look more like normal people, mine always seem to come out looking like, well, ladies of the night =)

It is very realistic lighting of characters turned out. Materials and textures too are executed top-level.

You've taken the advice I and others offered you last time and have produced a very good image. The lighting looks very natural and it does exactly what it should. Ah, the hair does look great. The thing about realistic looking things is that people often dont really notice them, they just accept them as real and focus on other things in the image. Excellent work. Looks like you've made good sense of this all in terms of lighting.

Not much to add, except praise. It does look indeed very natural and since I stood there myself, I'm a good judge. I'm glad you have the courage to experiment with HDRI.
