Without A Leash
Description: Just playing around with Bryce 7.1 and Daz Studio. House is from the internet. Woman is Genesis, Dog is Mil Dog. Lit with my EarthGlow Dome Light Strategy (EGDLS). The lighting is very important to me so any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks all for your time.

Wow, This is a great composition, it made me smile when i saw it, your renders are always so upbeat and positive, Great work on the flower beds trees and grass, the facial work though is fantastic for me it was the first thing i noticed when i looked at it, the girl smiling grabs the eye, The lighting looks great , at first i thought the shadows from the girl and the dog were a little hard, but the more i thought about it i realized it would be correct for around 11:45 to 12:15( noonish)'
I also noticed they have a slight blue tint, do you mind me asking how you did that ?
Great Job.

Thanks a ton, Steven!

Yes, the sun has shadows set to only 33% softness. The default value of 100% makes the sun appear too large and too close to the planet. If shadows are too soft the sunlight looks like a lamp, making the entire scene look like a miniature model.

EGDLS is a dedicated fake GI system. It operates by breaking up outdoor light into three primary influences. A. Direct Illumination by means of the Default sun or Distant Light B. Indirect Light from generic Light Domes C. Specular Lighting.

The Blue tint comes from the Domes used for indirect light. There is a Skylight Dome, and there is an EarthGlow Dome. Both of these Domes are global, meaning the "Distant" option is enabled in the light lab. In this mode the Dome becomes as large as the IBL sphere and can illuminate the entire scene as an IBL would do. But the good thing about Domes is that there can be as many of them as needed in a given scene, whereas with IBL there can be only 1. Often to get the right look careful Influence must be assigned. More on that in a second.

The Skylight Dome is Blue colored, with a somewhat positive bias so that most of the virtual radials are above the ground. This allows for the appearance of blueness only for surfaces which generally face the sky and even a little bit of blue to seem bounced up from the ground plane. The EarthGlow Dome by contrast is tan colored with a negative bias so that it's light appears to come up from the ground plane as reflected light, and serves as the "correction" of the blueness so that it does not take over. Too much blue makes the time of day seem closer to the evening, it can also give the appearance of being underwater. So blue management is important to me.

I call it EarthGlow because it is the focus on the localized light bouncing upward that makes all of the difference. Light needs to move up as well as down. In fact light should always be moving in all directions. Thus the benefit of Domes. Domes are generic and can serve many situations quite well.

If you are interested in working with EarthGlow let me know and I will send you some stuff. it takes some getting used to but I am convinced that it can provide good results with relative ease of use. Let me know.

Great composition, excellent lighting and rendering. Maybe the grass on the lawn is too monotonous?

Quite natural looking render (not photo-realistic, natural as seen through human eyes). I envy you for your patience to place all these flowers. Full marks.
