Hills
Description: My computer is bogged down on a special rendering project (power cuts not withstanding the present rate of render is 2% a day) in the mean time I've been plodding on with my quest to create lighting as good as terragen - I'm not getting anywhere, but I do come across some interesting effects on the way nowhere. This is the result of playing with the atmospheric blending and colour perspective.

ah yes Terragen.

Terragen. I downloaded it the other day and I have to say for such a small program it is extremely complicated. The immense amout of stuff contained within that tiny two mega byte program is insane. If you pass the learning curb of terragen, it seems that it can do some pretty awesome scenes.

The only questionable thing about this picture is the fog looks blue compared to the yellow atmospheric haze. No..wait maybe im wrong. In any case, another fine work David.

P.S. Im anxious to see your 2% a day render.

It IS blue!

mabey its just the yellow, but the fog is definitely blue! Terragen (I had the program before I found out about Bryce) lighting is good because of three reasons: you are able to change the position and hight of the sun, the clouds are randomly generated but realistic and the clouds perfectly respond to the color of the light. I think you are on to something, and its all in the clouds.

wounderful image!!:o)

Yellow / Blue is ok

The athmospheric haze is illuminated by the sun and hence yellow tinted while the haze is in the shadow and is quite rightly blue. This is realistic! Go out for a change (while the computer is rendering, for example) and watch the real landscape in different light.

I fully agree that atmosphere and light can be more easier controlled in TerraGen than in Bryce. It seems to me more scientific and less random.
