Dust and Grit
Description: Bryce 7.1 Pro

Using Horo's HDRI for light and backdrop. http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/-/tourbillion-tower-hdri?item=13657

A terrain of my own http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/-/bryce-7-pro?item=13679 textured with materials generated from Horo's photographs.

And the first of these clouds http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/-/bryce-pro-cloudscapes?item=11218

A hybridised scene which hopefully shows the benefits of having access to good resources, most of them relying on Horo's photographic skills to some extent.

I remember this terrain from one of your previous renders and of how realistic and natural it seemed, the dust cloud really adds to the scene, makes me thirsty.Great Job.

Thanks Stephen, yeah, I've been kinda busy for the last six week and not been able to dedicate time to making things from scratch, so in the interests of keeping my hand in and reminding people over at the DAZ galleries that Horo has produced a fine interlinked selection of high resolution HDRI resources for Bryce I've been busy remixing content and utilising the new HDRI. It's a pretty rapid process and fun too. I can make a few dozen scenes in the space of a couple of hours and then pick out the ones I like the look of for full rendering.

This was one of the less adventurous experiments with this approach. I've got a few more radical ones to upload. The Sequence image, uploaded after this one, was the most marked departure. I put them side by side for the sake of contrast.

Very high contrast and 3D-ish looking mountainscape. Dust cloud looks good. If you've got some time to experiment, you could try to make the dust moving up the slopes into the sky. That's what I can see in summer here if there is the right sort of wind.

Well, that's something to consider. Since the clouds can't "know" about the terrain, it's going to be quite specific to a particular terrain. Sand blows up the pullover sometimes, it's not a long journey but the effect is quite hypnotic, no mountains in Lincolnshire. Plenty of wind.
