Valentine Heart 2
Description: I made the scene a bit brighter and gave the heart more of a glow. Anygallery I've seen has always been bright enough to really see the art. I'm satisfied how this one turned out.

Well, I did like the first one. Though this is an improvement nevertheless. The heart is better but I think now the room is a bit bright. The overall contrast has not changed, only the intensity of the light. If the heart could be left at this glowing intensity and the room made a bit darker, the heart would become more prominent and important. But this is, of course, the artists decision. A good job in any case.

I will try lowering the lights for the rest of the room and leave the one above the heart alone and see how that works. It's a 10 hour render with the complexity of the heart, but worth it.

The heart material looks fantastic (like one of those gel hand warmers http://www.amazon.co.uk/Heart-Hand-Warmers-2-Pack/dp/B002VKQ41G), since it is the focus of the scene, you could experiment with getting rid of all your lights and just settle for one inside the heart and see how that looks.

In my opinion, the shadows are a little too sharp. Maybe, it'd better to make softer shadows or use HDRI or one of new B7 light sources? Of course the render time will increase, but the result will be much better.

Alex , i think you did a great job with this, the lighting to me is more or less correct for a gallery, don't want to add much more than what has already been said but i tend to agree with Sam about shadow softness, mainly across the front of the hand, i think i might try to put another light just under the heart and use the exclude feature on everything but the hand to add a little softness to the shadow.
