Embryo2
Description: This "evolved" as I went through a tutorial
on creating abstract shapes with Cinema4D.

YouTube video

This reminds me of a twisted pan by David
Brinnen....not sure how he did it, but like the shape a lot, and no doubt inspired me at least subconsiously.

I'll try importing the shape to Bryce & Carrara to see how it renders....I like to put shapes with un-natural materials in
scenes with rough terrains.

1 sphere inside a torus, grouped, bent, twisted; 1 omni light inside, 1 omni above
in front; 200 frames, 20 fps. C4D r11

Interesting... I don't know enough about C4D to comment on the thing in itself, but I do hope you manage to get it over to Bryce for rendering. You might find wavefront object is your best bet for export/import, that seems to have been the most reliable for me. Remember if you do use .obj format, it will come in automatically smoothed - which can cause some confusion.

re: smoothing

Hi David,
when I import the .obj with default settings in C4D
and Bryce, it's faceted....but I found (accidently) that
I could smooth it by double-clicking on it in Bryce and accepting the default smoothing. Never knew that
before, but never needed it before, till now.

Here's the imported object before & after smoothing in Bryce.

See "Solar Egg" in the Sci-Fi folder.

Curious. Maybe the smoothing then is something embedded by Wings3D when the object is saved? Since I've had to unsmooth things like cubes before after importing them as obj's. Oh well, anyway, if you want to manipulate the smoothing on an object, click on [E] and you will have a dialogue to select either smooth angle or unsmooth.

re: [E] to smooth

Thanks, didn't know that either, but will use it more.
