Double Sunset
Description: The terrain is DISP5 with the pre-backed material made by David (see http://www.bryce5.com/details.php?image_id=4747) but not tiled, just 4096 resolution. The tree is Special Hamlock by Brian Foley and the AH9100 are from Phillip Drawbridge (DAZ3D). The water is my own and available here in the Material X-change. Lit by the blueish Bryce sun and a selfmade HDRI. It provides the reddish light and the sun at right - which is actually the lamp above my kitchen table. The tree was added to hide some geometric patterns visible with the camera so near to the terrain. Without the tree, this size was rendered in 37 minutes in normal priority. With the tree, it took 5 hours.

Unexpected results. I can understand why you would use the tree to hide the material, but I really surprised it worked at all this close to the camera. Very good compositional balance, on the plus side, but the lack of haze makes the scale of the craft less believable to me. Also rated on the Bryce DAZ gallery. Looking good for 2012, in spite of the glum news over Lion compatibility. Still plenty of Bryce goodness to be mined from this software it seems.

Looks very cool Horo, i have given up on trying to make my own HDRI's for now but instead am i trying to put yours and Davids to good use. I have no idea what Lion compatibilty is ? But it has peaked my curiosity ?

So familiar, yet so alien. The stark contrasts almost feel like brush strokes of a painting. The sky is very interesting and the glow of the sun looks pretty much real. For some reason it feels like it is missing something. Perhaps another tree or so off in the distance? Some haze would indeed help the viewer get a better sense of scale. Bold image indeed.
