Island with surf another way3
Description: More of the same. Just to show I've not been entirely idle over Christmas - only mostly. Here the AA threshold was lifted to 50, partly to increase render time, but also to add some illusion of detail to the terrain material.

Again, the bulk of the time was dedicated to getting the mix of haze and IBL sky addition right to give a feeling of depth to the scene. Which is what I hope has been achieved.

Depth of a scene and effect HDR is felt!
David, you mean the Render Options / AA Tolerance?

Sense of scale works for me. It really would help if we had some sort of real world reference in Bryce.

Alexey. Aye, Rendering Options > AA tolerance set to 50.00 (the default is 15.00).

Rashad. Ah, that old chestnut. What is a BU? I don't know.

I doubt this structures are intended to appear thousands of meters tall, but indeed that could be the impression. The issue is the way the haze seems to thin out completely near the top and thicken so much near the horizon, its just too extreme. Ideally, the altitude of the haze thinning should be higher up, or the overall transition from thicker to thinner haze should be a much wider gradient. If that makes any sense. If would be nice if haze could be defined with a procedural altitude filter as alpha. If that too makes any sense?

Aye, as things stand, the limitations of the haze means the scene has to be built around the effect which is a little bit inconvenient. More control would be good.

Agreed. I am convinced haze only works as it should at the smallest scales, where mountain peeks don't every exceed the haze thinning threshold.
