Green Canyons (Take 2)
Description: Howdy. I've played around with a few of the variables within the EarthGlow Dome Light Strategy, as well as the leaf materials. I have also added an extra layer of small plants. This meant I had to sacrifice many of the boulders and stones from the previous version. Clouds as well were employed to finish off the atmospheric canvas.

The "green" of the vegetation is a tough call for me. Generally, I feel that yellow-green tends to be more plausible looking than blue-green, but not always. The green has been shifted toward the blue this time, and the result I feel is more of a storybook. I am curious if others will agree that the green is more plausible in the earlier version, but more engaging in this second version.

I also increased the saturation of the green but not to a significant degree. The blue-green seemed to eat up more of the light than the yellow-green so I needed to increase saturation to balance the overall impression. Increased saturation often provides a faked boost in brightness without actually increasing the lightness of a color.

The new green works well for close up shots which is why I am so curious how it reads from a distance.

If feedback is good then I'll consider this one ready for submission to good old Daz.

Feedback is truly appreciated. It can be very difficult to get feedback sometimes around here. Thanks all for your time.

Switching back and forth between this version and the older one. My view is that this is much improved, the other looks dowdy by comparison. The light here has some power, but I feel (as already observed on the next image) there is a little too much blue in the haze and this combined with the vibrant green of the foliage is making the greenery in the distance a rather acidic colour that does not compliment the oranges found in the steep sections of the underlying terrain.

I'm always amazed how you manage to bring in so many trees. Foliage bluer or yellower? It certainly depends on the sort of tree. Both look plausible and natural, though I slightly prefer the yellower ones but it's just a preference. The sky has improved with the usage of volumetric clouds. There is also more overall contrast, most probably due to a more powerful sun. Comparing the two renders, this one is more spectacular. This is a humid place with quite some haze. The haze is gray (low white) which fits the partly cloudy sky nicely, which reduces the blue light from the sky. Therefore, colour perspective is a tad too blue. Nothing really bad enough to make an issue out of it. Nevertheless, sky light and how haze appears in the distance is slightly out of synch. Full marks in any case.

Thanks guys for looking in again on a nearly identical render. I agree with both of you, the other shot is more engaging than this one. As stated in the other image notes I am going to continue working the atmosphere until it works without question. We shall see.

More to come. Thanks again for the feedback!!!!

I also think that too much blue in the haze. The warm tone would be more pleasing to the eye.
However, a fabulous job.
