Passage through Darkwood
Description: Passage through Darkwood

Miriam fell through the short spiney weeds onto the cold damp mud, nervously she looked behind her for any sign of pursuit, she listened and heard nothing. The Halfling had rescued her but in turn had been captured, all Miriam could do was run, she could not help the Halfling so she fled, as she ran she heard a gurgling voice?Boat! Picking herself up from the mud she looked around and saw the small footprints, this must be where Halfling had landed, nestled in the long grass she saw a small boat, obviously made for someone much smaller than a human, she doubted its ability to carry her and for a moment considered the option of traveling alongside the small waterway, then the smell of rotting meat reached her nostrils, the forest hunters!, No more time ,she quietly grabbed the edges of the small boat and slipped it into the water waiting for it to founder and sink, but the boat stayed upright and barley touched the water almost as if some other force was at work keeping it upright, there was no oar so she used her hands to paddle out to the middle hoping that there was not some hungry creature below waiting for an easy meal from something foolish enough to pry below the surface. The plan was simple let the current carry her downstream till she was clear of the forest, but no matter how much she tried the boat would not move with the currant , it slowly turned on its own and started moving up stream, looking down she saw the small elvish writing on the bottom of the boat and realized she was not going to be able to control it ,the boat was going wherever it was supposed to go, She crouched down and peered over the small bow of the boat as it moved deeper into Darkwood forest looking for any sign of the hunters, Up ahead there was a small bend in the river, she could see light coming through the trees, then she saw something else stirring on the bank, a hunter !, its yellow eyes shining through the shadows, she crouched as close as she could in the boat but it was not enough to hide her. As the boat got closer to the bend the smell of rotten meat once again reached her, she could hear the beast?s low growl, it slowly began turning toward her, the boat was very close to the bank now, Miriam lifted herself up and got ready to leap to the bank, wherever it was that the little boat was taking her it was going to have to wait?..

You captured the story nicely in this picture. Very well done. My only minor quibble is with the bank at left, it somehow doesn't fit completely. The trees, lighting, water, poses are very well done. This is a 5/5 for me.

Very nice work!
In my opinion, not enough front lighting to work out the details in the shadows. The shadows are too deep.

Thanks

Horo- Thank you, yes the bank on the left is a little undone so to speak, because i used high polygon trees and i do not have that much ram Bryce started crashing constantly after adding Daz elements, it beacame a constant trade off of what i wanted and what was technicaly feasable on my PC, initialy there was more vegitation in that area. Thank you for the 5.
Slepalex- Thanks, on the monitor i have at home the render actually looked much brighter, so bright in fact i made a darker version, but after checking it out on several diffrent monitors at work, the initial render looked fine. I think montor settings has a great deal to do with what you see, Thanks

Gorgeous. A true mastery of Bryce here. I love everything about it. The darkness, the drama, her vulnerability...perfect. The slight reflections on the water, brilliant.

If I was to study the image and look for even the tiniest inconsistency, I might wonder where the bright light is coming from. Compositionally the bright light is essential. I wonder if there is a nearby camp or something. Maybe the moon is at an extremely low angle, in which case the sun might rise soon?

Anyhow, this is a full marks and then some kind of render. Thanks for such a work!
