Marching Home
Description: A small group of penguins gaze at the long way they have to get home. I really like working with volumetrics and the cloud coverage was a real challenge to get to this rather dramatic look. Rendered in Bryce 7.1 Pro and took 30 hours to finish. Slight color tweaking in Paint Shop Pro.

Every millisecond of render time was worth it. Astounding work. Truly masterful. Love the terrain and the texture applied. The sky is sickening.

Wonderful Bryce work Isn't Bryce 7 amazing?!

Full Marks no hesitation!!!!

Full marks indeed. The clouds could be from a photograph. Absolutely convincing. Nice landscape, too. You've catched the mood. Excellent work.

@Rashad

Thank you!
Indeed Bryce 7 is amazing! I had only worked with version 5 until now, but 7 brings so much new stuff and it's still as fun to work with, which is always a plus :)

@Horo

Thanks! The clouds were the real challenge. I wanted something really dramatic to make the penguins journey seem more epic!

Excellent render, well worth the render time! The clouds are most impressive, they have real depth and complexity. The edges would perhaps benefit from being slightly more crisp, but that would run the risk of dreaded banding and push the render time even higher!

5/5

@David

Thanks! I'll still be tinkering with the material as per your suggestions in the forum! The render time wasn't a problem, but obviously if I can decrease it, I'll do whatever I can do get there :)

But right now I'm working on my next image, hopefully with the use of TA. That one will surely beat this image's render time ^_^
