Timbered Winterized
Timbered Winterized

Timbered Winterized
Description: Here is another panoramic pict. It is dedicated to a friend, she has recently had a breakup.

I?ve choose to use large address aware to push the soft to some new limits so, this scene is about 3Gb.

It?s a mix modelling between Bryce 7.1 and Wings3d.

Every timbered house has been modelled in Bryce (except too models from turbosquid) and it takes me most of the time on this composition.

I?ve also modelled the canal, the little bridges, the Christmas illuminations and every things above.

These illuminations are rendered after a first pass by using ?render by zone?. There is about one thousand lights (at ranged 1).

And finally there is about five hundred instanced trees in the background.

Of course it?s a T.A render at 64 rays/pixs but only with 3 rays bounces to reduce time processor consumption.

Hope you like this work.

Thank you slepalex!

At this resolution it only took 13 hours to my computer for the first pass and about 8 hours to render by zone all the illuminations.

My machine is an acer predator trooper with a phenom black II x6 at 3,2 GHz (i've change my processor last month) and 8gb of memory.

Beautiful. The timbered houses look very real indeed. I've seen many old renovated centres of towns like that. In Switzerland, Germany and France. Is this old Strassbourg? The canal looks particularly typical. The xmas lighting is excellent as well. Lighting is also very plausible and matches my memories of such places I had visited in that season. One thing I might suggest, though. Using firtrees in the background may be a bit of an overkill. 2D trees might have sufficed. Good use of LAA in any case. 5/5.

You're right, it looks like some Towns in Alsace (France).

Here we are near of Colmar canal wich is call "la petite Venise" because i've use a lot of photo from this place to inspire this work.

I'm proud to know that my pict reminds you such lovely place.

It doesnt look like my hometown(hilversum) at all.
But you did a great job with this.
Really impressive.
But are you really sure about the 1000 lights?
I only counted 946.

Hey adrian! Did you really count all the lights??

Let me tell you a secret : there is an hidden steet lamp on the left corner of the canal, but don't tell anybody else ok?

However thank you for your great comment!

Incredible. Really incredible. You make me feel so lazy. If I have more than one terrain in a scene I feel like it is getting busy. So much detail, so much work. You must have the patience of a saint to work with such a complex environment in Bryce. Well done sir, well done indeed! 5/5 needless to say.

A request. For such a good and sophisticated scene. How about some more renders under different lighting conditions? Sunset or sunrise for example?

Thanks to you Sir David! Well, i'm not has patient has you might think. Here i've place each of the elements independently from the others. Compose the scene was easy when i first found the good camera angle.

After that i've work on positioning the canal, then the street lamps, then the houses.?

Has i've already told, most of the time spend on this picture was to modeled them.

Hum hum... I'm must admit that render this picture in another time of the day is a good idea! I look forward to render it again with another look!

Thanks for your helpfull and comments.

we need it

Very good scene. It gives you relax and make you feeling better.
I'm not with Horo, I don't think the idea and result were for a realistic scene.
For me it shows better as a crayon draw filter. (I hope you can understand my poor english). But I love it (5/5)
Someone would explain what render by zone is and how is it possible to do on a rendered scene?
Thank You!
