Comet Core
Comet Core

Comet Core
Description: A dozen terrains, the Bryce sun lighting the scene and the MoonBlueGrey HDRI to brighten up the shadows. Inspired by Comet Probe by David A. Hardy (http://www.hardyart.demon.co.uk/pages-gallery/p-debrs2.html).

Approaching the sun, the comet core heats up and volatile gases evaporate, creating some sort of an atmosphere.

Uh, what a dismal and deserted place, though the sun shines brightly. Marvellous picture with convincing textures!

But someone has forgotten his rope (lower-left corner) ;-)

Highly evocative image! The gasses visibly squirt out of the cracks in the rock - volumetric cloud material? Whatever, it works a treat. Excellent use of mud cracks - I think I can see why you needed so many terrains - can't see any joins. The light on the pitted surface is convincing. Got to be top marks. My only quibble, and this is not your fault, but the stars look a little bit too big.

Thank you! The gasses evaporate from the cracks indeed. The terrain was copied, inverted, made massive and a volume material applied. Of course, the negative cracks were pulled up.

Here is a really impressive space image. The cosmic lights is perfectly metrized and i can almost see some particles in these rays.

The texture you've choose for your terrains is great to, cold and reflecting. Very nice.

Fullmarks.
