Shadow catchers are cunning as foxes with a first class degree from the university of cunning...
Description: Bryce 7.1 beta render.

Here a little trick that is possible thanks to the new features. One of which you can see with your own eyes, but I cannot talk about. The first rule of pie club... You know the drill.

What I can talk about it shadow catching. Here we have an hdr backdrop supplied by Horo, HLKroomC_3840.hdr soon to be availble at a DAZ store near you - hopefully. Look here anyway http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/search/searchsub/?_m=d&sstring=Horo at Horo's nice things.

The process is a little bit fiddly, but not overy so and I've outlined it in a five minute video which should appear here, eventually, once Blaine has edited it. Still there are plenty of other video's to keep you occupied until that happens... http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=145803

Essentally, what it boils down to is making a material that becomes more transparent the more light it recieves but otherwise is tending towards black. Hence the shadow captureing title. Here there is a hdr backdrop, a negitive light influencing only the invisible ground plane and a hdr light. A couple of spots add a bit of interest along with negtive spots to suck additional light off the backs of the spiders they influence.

The video will make it all clear, honestly. Special thanks to Horo (Bryce demi-got that he is) for setting me on the right path with his "guess" at how I was going to do this trick.

Well, thanks for the kudos. An idea is good, making it work it better.

This is the first HDRI I made low on the floor on David's request. Imagine sitting on the floor and welcoming the beasts to scuttle on your lap.

I think I'll never go into this room at night anymore ;)
