Ring Theory
Description: Here's a new one using Sky Dome IBL. It was just an experiment but I think it's good enough to post. Then again, most of what I create are experiments, aren't they? ;-)

Indeed. But that is a good thing! Once again this straddles the line between 2D and 3D, which is interesting. I little stark for my tastes, in terms of backdround, artists choice.

This would give an outstanding anaglyph. Just imagine how the rings protrude from the screen and try to get at you.

Lord-of-the-Rings!

That's elegant Spek! =O
Great graphic & reflections.

I was thinking maybe some DOF would be good, but instead, adjust the light so it's just a bit darker
toward the rear if possible.

Did you use some kind of equation to offset them?
Looks too perfect to have been done manually.

What was the render time?

Thanks, Cal!

I could have done better. I was in a rush to put out something new with my back screaming at me. Oh well.

The sequence was kind of tricky Each ring is actually grouped with an object of zero dimensions, rendering it invisible, which allowed me to offset the visible ring slightly. I then used Multi-Replicate to spin the group off into the distance resulting in a nice snailshell pattern.

I turned the Cast Shadows control off on the in the ring material because it darkened the rings to much but it did tend to flatten the image in the center. It made for an interesting effect so I left it that way. :-)
