Ice World Explorers
Description: Hope you will wonder,

"Where are they from? Where are they going? What do they look like???"

Hope you also enjoy the stark beauty of the ice, the reflections & shadows. I expect to be working on this for at least
another week or so.

Everything except the material for the ships' hulls is generic...but will explore as many variables as time permits.

Here is the 20 sec animation (560k mp4)
...no more QT problems!

12 fps...too rough...will use 15 fps minimum next time; some artifacts on leading edges of saucers...material?

Comments & suggestions always welcome. =)

Lovely colours... I'd suggest wrapping your ships inside a second slightly larger sphere with a volumetric fire material applied to it. Like "Pal Varient", suppiled with Bryce 7 pro. Which is a sort of blue lightening.

Ooooo! Great idea! Thanks, David. =)
Will try it asap later.

BTW, stumbled onto a very cool set of Pro Materials from DavidBrinnen.com! Whoa! =O
What a gold mine!
Thanks for making them available....amazing!
Can hardly wait to start experimenting.

Colour is very appealing. The shadow on the left wall is a bit disturbing. Perhaps if it was soft?

re: hard shadow

Hi Horo,

thanks for the suggestion...I'll re-render with a softshadow...also want to try a different material for
the hull of the saucer.

I was going to use soft shadows for the animation, too, but the render time zoomed way up!

But will do it for the still image.
