remade with TA method in Bryce 7 pro. One of Horo's hdr used as a backdrop provides all the ambient light the scene needs. For a lighting method that often results in either a metalic or wet finish, I think the results here are quite acceptable. Some noise is discernable in the white areas around the cakes.

Looking very good David. The TA is doing a good job of bleeding the colors from one surface to another. There is some noise in the shaded areas, but generally I agree this looks much drier and diffuse than usual. The chipped candies are a very nice touch!

The only qualms are with the bread innards. Okay, the top of the bread looks fine, but the "holes" carved out by the yeast visible on the sliced cake are too deeply shaded, and look like etchings, and not like actual open spaces. Not sure what the solution to such a problem might be. I often think that at times like this real photo references can provide a better base than procedurals.

No reason not to give this a full 5!!!

I've checked the other two in order not to have to rely on my memory. The part TA plays on the ground is very good and the objects are nicely and evenly lit. However, the whipped cream is not white. It needs more light. The earlier two had that part much better. Putting the cakes on a plate would give you an excuse to use a specular convolved HDRI. You got my vote for the cakes before. The models are still amazing, but the grey cream really puts me off a bit.

I think TA in Bryce 7 got even closer to indirect illumination and ambiient occlusion than before (and it realy works faster now). Your modeling is just superb, these cakes looks very tasty as for me:) (and I wish there was chocolate on the top of the piece of cake), and as for the cream, maybe it is just a custard? So you have my 5 too.
