Far from the Big City REVISED
Description: Like all of my renders, this render is a technical demonstration turned art. For that reason, I often tend to remake things once I get better at a given experimental technique. So then is my excuse for presenting such similar renders as those I just posted a few days ago. I wanted to test not only the power of the new instancing feature found in the Bryce 7, but also the power of the new lights. The scene is lit with the new much more powerful default sun and the indirect light is provided by a new tool known as a 3d fill. I am happy with the way the shadows are "fixed" by this new lighting tool. The original used a 3d fill and two domes ( domes are also new to Bryce 7 pro), but the sun was not bright enough as well as some other minor issues. So the only real differences between the original and the revised version is in the light intensities, and in some of the materials like for the grass, and the added clouds of course. Feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks all

Leaf transparency, as ever, is a wonderful thing - except for the impact on render times...

Again, as with your other image, I'm not a fan of this ground material. The water looks better in this scene, must be the angle of it to the camera. I like being able to see through the surface... Something not quite right about the refraction, but that's Bryce not you.

The clouds are interesting rather than convincing, I think this could be remedied by slightly different choices in terms of colours employed between the sky and the clouds. To be fair, the whole image is oversaturated for my tastes, and that could be what I'm picking up on here. You must remember I live in the UK and the colour scheme is predominantly shades of grey for most of the year.

The lighting is top notch. Doubtless another 5/5

No qualms about the water from me. Transparent near and reflecting farther away. This seems right and fits my observation in nature. The clouds are a nice addition, they look a bit strippy, otherwise, quite good - meaning I have yet to match such clouds. Sky colour and the haze in the distance also look quite natural to me. What doesn't fit is the dark part of the clouds with the dark parts of the vegetation. Each one looked at it in isolation is ok, but together, there appears to be a mismatch. The bright sun makes this a hot place, but there's nothing wrong with this, quite to the contrary. And this bright light seems also to be responsible for the saturation, which looks a tad generous to me. The far trees look poorly antialiased. I won't blame you for that, having been able to play with this scene myself, I've observed similar "roughness". I have to agree with David that this is worth full marks.
