Cruisin' the Nile
Cruisin' the Nile

Cruisin' the Nile
Description: I found the boat in one of my searches and built the scene around it. Used "Regular AA".
Finally created a scene this Bryce6.3 could render. Really do not like Bryce6.3 at all, waste of money.

Bryce 6.3 is indeed a step in some direction, I would not say backward, but it is not a step forward either. Most of the fixes in 6.3 were for mac users who up until now had some serious broken features, really basic stuff that used to derive them to madness. Yeah, very serious.

My biggest peave with 6.3 is that it renders roughly at half the speed of 6.1. that's right, renders are at least twice as long with 6.3 compared to 6.1. But 6.3 is hardly the point, it is B7 where it all makes sense again.
B7 renders on average about twice the speed of 6.1, making it roughly 4x faster than 6.3.

Okay, this render above is quite well done. I like the composition, and I ;love the deep shadows, they really help make the sunlight appear to be bright. One of my favorites from you, you devil of a madman with complexity, I love it. I literally have no criticisms, which is almost unheard of from me.

Rebel,
I forgot to mention in the first post, Bryce 6.3 is evil, but Bryce 7 is a dream, really. So I would say that as a 6.3 owner you will have access to a very good deal on B7. If the above render had been done in B7, you would not have had to stop adding trees, you could have kept on until you felt you should stop. Bryce 7 is much more powerful than 6.3, yet it still feels fun and light in the way Bryce does it.

Thanks rashadcarter. It sounds like you have some issues with Bryce6.3 too. I'm going to go back to Bryce5 for awhile. I have an Interior scene that bryce6.3 cannot even render. well, it could probably render the scene if I waited long enough, but I have tried that and my computer just crashes. I've also had it rendering the scene for two days and nothing. It gets stuck.

Thanks for the comments. Especially the part where you say you have no criticisms pertaining to this rendering, lol.

Well, since Rashad has nothing to nag about, this will be my job then. Hopefully, no Egyptian will look at this runlet called Nile. It's a bit wider, actually. But on the positive side, Orinoco or Amazon wouldn't have fitted better. I hope you get the joke.

In fact, this is a beautiful picture and again full of details. The turtles, the crocodile, the dhingy, very nice. The shadows are a tad too deep for my liking but that's the artists choice. The water colour is spot on for a river in such a jungle. It carries a lot of sediments that give it such an earthen colour. The bow wave came out excellent and conveys the speed of the boat. Here, we see the passionate skipper behind this artwork. Excellent work, Gary! I like a bundle what you did here.
