A Silhouette of Passion
Description: Well, fellows, I'm not sure how to begin describing the img above. It is one of those pieces that come to your mind suddenly and you wanna grab your tools as soon as possible in order to "materialize" the thoughts and ideas. The time for completion is a different matter though :). What you see is meant to represent a book.. to some extent, and the sort of re-touched photograph one can see in a frame, hangin' on the wall in a piano bar for ex. Since the time I took the silhouette photo, I wanted to "bind" it to a personal piece of story. While I'm no writer and the story, generally, continues to write by itself, I'm simply sharing a special moment with a suitable title, hoping it will come close in describing what the image is all about.
Photoshop and some textures used for creation.

Hmm. This image communicates on a subconscious level more than anything. Such display of skills makes me very jealous. I love the texturing of the book cover looking element, and well as the flower petals. The form in blur looks like a man waiting for something, outside of a brightly lit room. Perhaps he is waiting for someone? I can tell it is a "he."

I see blood, I can see blood for sure. Hmm, this IS an interesting piece!! Wow. The more I look at it the more things I observe. I might have to give it a five.

Thank you for the comment, Rashad! You shouldn't be jealous buddy, though I sure am happy for the 5er you gave me.
Your observations are correct except for the silhouette Herself. Yup, it's a "her" :) The same person that was playing the sleeping fairy in "Dream Keeper" image. The photo I took almost by accident this way, because I had to shoot quickly without setting things up.
The rose petals were stock photos from deviant art; I had to put a little bit of shadow (layer's blending options -> drop shadow) below them so they can really appear placed on top of the book. Thanks for the appreciation once again.

This is really cool. I love the textures and the colors. Is the book 3D or is it a picture?
I like your signature.

You're the master of 2D/3D blending. Excellent piece of art - but unsettling. I see blood and am reminded of The Shining (with Jack Nicholson).

Richter, as ever, a highly polished and proffessional piece from yourself. Impressive certainly, but I feel I am not really qualified to comment on the technicalities of the image since I don't know the processes. I appreciate that it is very well conceived and for that you surely earn your marks. 5/5

Thank you, gentlemen, for the votes and the kind remarks. Connor, everything was assembled with plain textures in Photoshop. All the shadows/shaded / highlighted areas were enchanced with that post-prod. application. No 3d anywhere. I'm still running CS2, though there's CS5 currently, and I'm beginning to give the newer version a thought. Anyway, feels good to know you like it.

To illustrate the different layers I worked with, I exported them as textures and used Bryce to show you via planes in 3d space how these layers were positioned on top of one another. Of course rendered in Bryce, there's no interaction in-between the layers (such as the blending modes in PS) as you see it above. I'm simply posting you a link of how the textures actually looked like before the modifications.

Without the signature and logos, etc. all layers were 20. I combined some of them into 1 in order to have room to show you everything.
See you around :) !
