That looks amazing. Your textures and lighting are also very impressive. It is a bit hard to judge the scale of how bit or small the rocks are. I get the feeling that they are large boulders.
All you need is a spaceship landing and it is complete :-)

The lighting of this scene is spectacular, I must say that B7 is heading in the right direction, although I have not rendered a complete scene in it yet. A few things still need tweaked, i.e. the light lab, but judging from this render, Bryce will soon become my app of choice again.

Certainly a beautifully lit arid landscape. If it were more yellow/red instead of blue, it could be on Mars. I'm not sure we really have soft shadows here, but I get the impression there are.

Thank you all for your kind remarks. Considering the time consuming nature of the whole process in creating what is in effect quite a simple image, it is encouraging that you are so enthusiastic.

My main interest is for materials and lighting and less so for building fantastic models. Not that I don't appreciate the work of those that go in for fantastic models - I'm just not very good at it - so I avoid it.

Horo, when you say, you are "not sure we really have soft shadows here" - that is a bit ambiguous. As far as the render settings is concerned, I've got soft shadows ticked and the soft shadow sun seting at 75. I can't commit to saying if that feature is working correctly, it is somewhat random at the moment I've found. As for if soft shadows should be in this lighting setup - in the "real world" - I don't know. I thought that considering the low angle of the sun I would allow it? But I wouldn't like to say I'd got it correct.

I just wasn't sure it was an effect of TA. Yes, the amount of soft shadows looks very convincing to me.
