What "annoys" me when beholding your clouds is not so much that I can't do them but that there appears to be no repeatable method that could be followed and made to a tutorial. There was a time when we looked in awe at Terragen clouds. This time has ended the moment when you took up Hak's first cloud experiment. It's not the sky anymore that gives away a Bryce render. And it starts to getting fast, 7 minutes would mean under 1 hour on my old dual core. Amnd by the way, this is a 5/5.

Once again, Horo, thank you. As is often the case, you have put your finger on the very nub of the problem with the approach I have taken to generating these clouds. In spite of quite a considerable ammount of experimentation (nearly 14gb of source files and rising) I feel I am no closer to uncovering a method to reverse engineer a sky. Which is why the process to get anything like the sky I want is so painfully time consuming.

These skies would have been far more difficult to create on my old computer, because the preview time would have been prohibitive. Each minor adjustment in the DTE has to be previewed in the main render. No thumbnail for this subject offers anything like an appropriate view beceause the material is heavily dependant on the sky setting and background (that and the overall scope of the cloud form is not really shown usefully in either the DTE or material nano).

Of course, on thing to consider is that this scene is not very complex and that render time could easily soar if different material or lighting choices were made. It is all very fiddly I'm sorry to say.

Wow, I'm absolutely bowled over by your Bryce7 scenes with clouds!!!!! Must say I'm envious, I'd love to be able to produce skies like yours - at the moment, don't even have time to play around with the Bryce 7 Betas and hardly even get time to read through threads on forums - oh well, one of these days......LOL!

Thank you JoAJ and archclan, it is good to know the time I've spent on squeezing clouds out of the DTE was not wated. What Bryce7 beta makes possible is not the clouds in themselves, but the control over the lighting which allows them to work in a full scene.

Magnificent cloudscape... I'm beginning to become speechless with every new render I stop by. These clouds make me dream, they do, really...
