Handful of Leaves
Description: This image was made with the techniques explained in the Eco-system BryceTree tutorial by Rashad Carter and Horo. Thanks very much for sharing the info. It was really helpful and literally "untied" my hands for further bryce-tree exploration.

Technical note - the lighting here cannot be more simple then that, meaning I used only the default sun and backdrop hdr image only for the reflections. No ibl light, no Light clusters, no Pro Render set. The Ying Yang model you know from several other renders. The bryce cam. is set up with a narrow angle of view (pulled the camera back and zoomed quite a bit), the DoF - aimed at the symbol - was with 0.22 for Lens radius, which assured a rather "gentle", weak blurring, in order not to loose too much detail from the background leaves. The postwork is the red smoke, contrast edit, desaturation on places, some faint chromatic aberration towards the upper and lower part of the pic and scratches. Perhaps you'll be curious to know that the small red dots and the noticable "even" green is actually utilized ambience glow from both texture map (red) and procedural material (green). That puts this image more in-between the abstract section and the realism strive, so "Misc." section it is :)

That looks like a photograph. The smoke is a nice effect as well.

Very nice, Richter.Again very good use of DOF, it gives the feeling of realism. But I couldn't understand the shape of plants... Very nice, yet very strange picture.

Ah - very cool, richter. Good use of the ecosystem. You'll like the upcomming Bryce 7, there is already a beta out for the public. It will feature instancing, though the current instancing lab doesn't do it yet.

Thank you, guys!
Alexandr, perhaps you find this image strange because there's nothing too specific I'm depicting - some plant (partly showing here) and the red and black version of the Yin-Yang symbol, which is currently "lost" inbetween the branches/leaves. It's more of an abstract piece this render, for it "tells" a story of a lost Balance, and someone needs to find this balance again. I used this image for a background of a birthday card and my wishes to the person were about finding the balance in life, if it happens to be lost...somewhere somehow.
The shape of the plant is actually not important, it only brings the "colors" to this abstraction, hence the slightly glowing red and green.

Horo, that is wonderful news, Bryce 7... Though I thought DAZ are launching 6.3 version. Lets hope at least some of our personal expectations to come true, 2Gb memory limit removal for ex.

Wowzer! Never would have thought this was a Bryce render. Thanks for trying out the tutorial. I think the flowers are amazing, the colors are splendid, the dof is perfect. This looks professional, as do all of your works. Full 5 from me!

Thank you so much for your comment, Rashad! I'd love to try out every "outside-the-box" idea for a tutorial you come up with. :)
Btw, did you know (perhaps you did, but anyway..) that some days back Daz used your own "Volcanic Archipelagos" render for their newsletter ?
