A Day at the Beach
Description: I used "Regular" AA. The shadows are set at 80%. The palm trees that I used are really not what I was striving for. The leaves seem transparent although I have it set at 0 transparency. Even their shadows are green. This will be the last time I use these palm trees.

Rebel, once again it amazes me how many items you manage to get into your render - love the composition.

So far as the green shadows are concerned, I had a similar problem some time ago and Rashad said it was most likely because I had some colour in the leaves in either the volume or transparency in top third of the materials lab. When I checked that was exactly the problem - needless to say it was rectified although I never bothered to repost the image here. So hopefully you will be able to use those palm models again if you want to. I really like those ones with the large leaves in the foreground.

Must say that I love the look of the waves in the sea!!

Another "Rebel" :) Nice piece of work, Gary. It appears that JoJA is right about the volume and transparency colours. If these values are set to a shade of grey, you can even use a bit of transparency (or Rashad's Nothing) to make the leaves in the foreground look more real. The water is very nicely done. The sky is plausible (we have those often here and I call them 'boringly blue', mostly when my friends sit in the fog all winter long to make them jealous).

One and a half issues: The Coast Guard boat looks wrong in size because it "sits" on the horizon line of the water. The half issue is the impeccable sand with all these people walking around.

Nevertheless, I like what you've done very much. There is so much detail. You must be a very patient man.

Great job contrasting the sunlight with the shadows. Love the arrangement and composition. I love the variation in the vegetation.

Brilliant image, I would nto change anything.

On a technical note, as has been observed the palms are not quite right. Transparency is vital, but there are only a few ways to do it convincingly. AS JoAj isolated, likely you are getting colored shadows because you are using high saturation hues in the volume and transparent color channels in the top dialogue. Make those color greyscale, and you will get proper shadows while retaining transparency. I have uploaded some sample leaves materials you can play around with.

For me, this piece is excellent!
