Room With A View
Description: Rendered with Regular AA and have over 45 small radial lights, plus regular lighting from lamps, etc.
I know the first thing people are going to say is "where are the legs to the green recliner?" Well, they are there, but you can't see them, this is some sort of ultra-modern chair.
One strange thing, no matter what I used for a white texture on the statue, they all came out dark. The texture is supposed to be "White Marble" which has strains of black in it.
As for the stairway, I have four(you can only see 3) sconce type lights on it. there is a platform at the top to get a really good view---you can see the man's pants and part of his shoes on the platform.
You might notice the little red dragon on the small chest, he is there as protection for the bamboo trees.

Enjoy

Your lighting is improving a great deal. This has a much more realistic feel than the others, bravo!

Sadly, the only way to get realism in Bryce is to use lots of lights, there simply is no substitue currently.

Very believable layout. Nice object scaling. Relatively subdued colors, not too much high saturation stuff going on. The reservation really adds to the realism.

Great work overall. Just play around with getting some deeper shadows, it still looks as though you are playing it safe to an extent. But generally, this is the right direction for you to persue your indoor lighting.

To be more clear. You will find that once you start providing real indirect light via radials, you will have very little if any need whatsoever for using ambient glow in the materials lab. Trust your radials. Let them do the work. There is no ambient button in real life, so using ambient glow in renders will always ruin the realism.

The best way to do it is to create a random cluster of lights within the room, say 60 lights. Group the lights into a single object and fit that light object into the room. Do not worry about exactly where the lights end up. Here's why. Use the inverse gradient, not uniform color in the light lab. By using a gradient, that is inversed, you avoid the hotspots that occur when lights come close to objects. You can place objects however you want and allow the cluster to be your ambient and avoid all ambient glow, set this channel to 0. The lights within the cluster will be very dim individually, and they will cast shadows. They will combine to form a realistic multidirectional indirect light.

Just continue to experiment with the random clusters if you have not already. Naturally, you will still need direct sources also such as lamps and all. It is important to make a clear distinction between direct light and indirect lighting in a render.

In fact, I would say that in the abive render the lightin gis improved, still the direct and indiect lights are of too similar values, your indirect light is too bright by comparison. Direct light always comes from a specific source. So my question to you is, where are your lamps? We should see the indirect light falling off as you move farther from the direct light sources. To do this, you will need to be more clear about shadows and use them more to your advantage. You know well what I mean, I need not go on.

I get excited.

Thanks Rashad. Me and lighting/shadows are still having a bit of a time, but practice I do, lol.
You asked where are the direct lighting lamps? They are all over the room, the 3 bell like at the top, a lamp above the statue, a light on the ceiling in the room towards the couch a floor lamp next to the couch and a 2 light system in the back corner of the couch, plus the 3 visible sconce type lamps on the stairway. I think thats all, lol.

Very nice render! You did a great job here! Achieving realism in Bryce is a bit of challenge, so I even don't try to achieve, may be I'm a bit scared, but your work is very good. As usual, Rashad gave good advices, thanks to him, Horo and Richter I know more about Bryce than before I became a member,I see your success and think that if you follow their advices your woks will become even better.
By the way. Is that Bukin (Букин из "Счастливы вместе")? And if I may ask, are you from Eastern Europe, or, may be Asia? Sorry for my curiosity;.

Better and better. Rashad has been thorough as per usual, which can only lead to nice results. By asking where are your lights in scene, I think he meant where is the "glowing response" of the light bodies. Because you do have some lamps, although they don't give a single hint that they're emiting light, instead we have invisible light sources above and around the lamps. So, a bit confusing. The ambient glow is always permitted when we have such light emiting bodies. Or you could've put the lights within the lamps.

I see. I was wondered, about picture on the screen on the TV-set. It looks like scene from the TV-show on Russian channel TNT - analog of American "Married… with Children" so this picture misled me... Sorry.

I'm a late-commer here. I generally agree with what's been said about the visible lights. So I have to resort to praise. Indeed Gary, you do have the hang of creating rooms. I completely lack the imagination to do such a thing. You're rooms are very different so I don't think there will ever be a typical Rebel room. You've done a great job here. If you continue to improve at that pace, you might soon get fivers. You're not yet there (IMHO) but you're very near.
