Hope & Sorrow (in stereo 3d)
Description: Hello, guys! As you may have noticed, this image is a re-make of my old "Hurt" bryce rendition. This time the circumstances are a bit more special. I'm sure you all understand the nature of 3D imagery, but now you must "unlearn" your normal instinct to focus on the 2D plane of the image and re-develop your ability to cross focus on the composite 3D pair of images as above. Physically, you need to mildly cross your eyes to a point where the left and right images combine to make one image. When you initially get focus of some element in the pair (YinYang for ex.), hold that until your eyes are fully relaxed, then begin to examine the rest of the scene. Your eyes and brain will process the closest/furthest point in the picture as you would normally looking at an apple on a table or the horizon through the window outside. A personal warning of sorts would be not look on the image(s) cross-eyed too long for obvious reasons. 10 to 12 sec. and then take a break so your eyes may relax. You may also want to even go and look through the window in the distance until your focus is normalized. :)

The subject matter is beautiful. Models, colour, lighting and composition are flawless.

I'm a great fan of 3D images, side-by-side and anaglyphs. I did a number of renders and photographs, even cylindrical panoramas as QT movies. Here, it doesn't work because left and right are swapped. I copied the picture and used my viewer. It did work the moment I swapped the pictures. To be sure, I made an anaglyph of it on the fly and it only worked when I either had the goggles inversed or I gave the picture that is at the right here the red and the other one the cyan sepia tone.

Very cool how this comes together. The mind must make sense of what the eyes send it to process. It has a touch or elegance to it, it has an "expensive" look it it overall. Bravo! 5ver as usual!

Thank you, both! I appreciate the comments.

Horo, very strange... what you're saying about the stereo "swapped" wrong and not working. By the method I described above I see it perfectly, or my brain sees it that way :). Left pic for the right eye and right pic for the left eye. This way when I cross my visual field I get full "3D" perspective. Actually right before I was going to post this image here I felt something's not right - the 2 images were swapped back then and right after I made my little change, it all worked. So I'm fully confident that I matched the Stereo and I'm sorry to have to disagree with you on that one.

Ah - that explains it. Cross the eyes to make it work. When I use the optics I got with my 3D camera I purchased about 20 years ago or for anaglyphs, I have to set the eyes parallel.
