Dusk at the Lake
Dusk at the Lake

Dusk at the Lake
Description: Inspired by a picture in a local paper I attempted a dark type of a landscape. The setup is rather simple with three terrains, two elongated cubes, a tree and a water plane. This time, all materials used are my own and one out of the library, heavily tweaked. Lit exclusively by my Simplon HDRI which makes up the sky as well. Rendered with 64 lights in just a bit over one hour. Though to get the light right made me work a full day.

Really a wonderful picture.
Beautiful 'nocturne' feeling about it.
I love it!

Absolutely wonderful! The color choices are perfect for this type of scenario. Very calm and relaxing, water surface has just the right amount of wave distortion, haze works great... I lack of words here actually. The night lights of the near villages make an interesting focus in the composition. Despite the illusion of simplistic impression at first -- all in all, without exaggerating, this is one of your best landscapes I ever saw published by you here. I love it! Top vote is due.

Holy incredibile Wow! I am supremely impressed. The subtle effects are extremely well implemented.

This could well be the very best night rendered scene I can recall from my Bryce viewing memory.

I cannot stop staring at this work. 5+ no doubt!!!!

I may need to try something at night time, seems it is possible after-all to get it right.

Thank you for your kind comments. Though not even richter found a flaw, there is one. I'm not completely happy with the near lights at right. They are still a bit regular. Something to improve upon the next time I attemt such a scene.
