Nuclear Dawn
Nuclear Dawn

Nuclear Dawn
Description: Some days ago I was browsing Rashad Carter's gallery when I came across his Cement Jungle series and became inspired by (according to me) the best of his Cement entries, namely the 7th image. With permission to edit his work in one hand and the postwork tools in the other I re-created what I had in mind. My certain attraction to factories of any kind (God knows why :) ) plus the sci-fi cityscape scenario were two key points to basically start from. No 3d interventions whatsoever, all the work on the img is postwork. In the end what you see came to be a futuristic alloy-refining facility that consumes the resources of the whole city, just moments away from being devoured by the deadliest "sunrise" ever - the Nuclear Dawn.

That looks super sweet Richter! I am almost not sure what to say, I think the image definetly looks more specific with your additions. WOW! Very cool indeed, Richter!

Wow that is so amazing. The jets on the ship are really well done. The fire coming from the smoke stacks, also very cool. Great image!

Yeah, I can hardly stop looking at this image. I really am blown away that you were able to do this in 2 dimensions. I am inspired now to see if any of this could be done in 3d to make it easy to animate. This would not look out of place in a sci-fi movie people would pay good money for today. The texturing even on the ship is outstanding. Richter I am impressed. What really pleases me on a personal note, is how well you have interpreted the purposes of many of the more massive structures. Such structures would lilkely require force fields to sustain them against the natural rain and wind forces they encounter at such a scale.

I am beyond honoured by this work!

The foreground looks pretty 3D to me. I remember this city. The ambience you've added here works well and I really like that ship on the right. Good job! :-)

I remember that picture well enough. You're really a master of 2D image processing, richter. Though Rashad's render is the original and very well done, you gave it another dimension - as also the title implies.

Heaven's that's amazing, I'd never have guessed that it wasn't all 3D!

Thanks all for your comments! Photomanipulation is another aspect of art I gladly to dive in. It really enables the artist to "fine-tune" a given work of art to its aesthetic limits. I'm very pleased to see you all like the result. I personally encorage anyone who hasn't tried to "enhance" his/her renders to experiment with different postwork approaches. A very useful source for you, both learning and inspirational, could be the [Photoshop] website.

P.S. Rashad - since the original Cement city idea was yours, I feel I should send you the source files for this current work. See you around!
