River's Edge
Description: Rendered with Premium AA and 16 RPP, shadows set at 90%. This, very closely, resembles scenes from my childhood. I was always in the woods or on the rivers close to home. That is with one exception, the water was not this clear, I should have reduced the water's transparency a bit. But, I liked the effect of being able to see the fish, sea shells, & rocks.

Very nice! You got te water excellent: transparency depending on the view angle. There is only one thing wrong. The log is straight and not broken. So Refraction was set to 100 than 133 (1.33) for water. The Shadows are visible but from their length we can say that the sun is quite high up.

Hi Horo, I'm a bit confused(again, lol) you say the log is straight and not broken. Which log, the one up top resting on the rocks? I have one log completely underwater, one log laying at an angle resting on the other log and the log on the rocks that is partially submerged.

So you're confused. I don't blame you. Entirely my fault. The log nearest to the shore at right. The one with a part over- and a part under water. Put a straw in a glass of water and look what happens with the straw at the air-water boundary. Here's an example: http://www.bryce5.com/details.php?image_id=1289

Ha, defective water, lol. Thanks Horo, I get what you mean now, lol.
Mmmm, When I was placing objects, like the fish, they were offset like your example.

Nice stuff. Very good water and Horo states. I think the only real issue here is that you need to experiment with placing a few radials around to simulate the indirect light that shines down in multiple directions from the sky. Only a few lights need to be added. Very well composed, the water looks quite nice to jump into. The fish are easy targets for any fishing birds. the ferns models are very good, as is the coloring.

Interesting.. I haven't noticed the refraction level of the water. Although I don't think that this is much of a problem - the small waves obscure it more or less. To me the saturation values are higher then in real life, what we have here is a bit on the cartoon side. Though this also has its charm (I must admit that right here I definitelly prefer the cartoon look over the realism). Even though you can follow Rashad's suggestions, you personally get top vote from me for that image!
