Out of The Darkness
Description: Just getting back in practice, again. I used the Flying Dutchman Dirigitable and the Dragon to create a "Fantasy" scene. I know it doesn't look like it, but I worked for 2 days on this, lol. For about 97%, I used "Thunderheads" as my clouds to match the sky .mat I used. That's about it folks. Oh, I used regular AA (normal).

This is an amazing render Rebel. Everything looks perfect, truly masterful. I would give you full 5 but the image is not AntiAliased.

I think turning off AA is a bad habit, because too often we will forget to engage it before the final render, just as happened here. Best to always keep AA engaged. I am certain from the hardness of these pixels, no way this image has AA.

How did you create the lightning effect?

I do not know what is going on, but I have used AA in this scene and in the "Ghost Ship" scene.

Excellent sky again. The flashes are a bit thick but this is a fantasy render, so there's nothing to complain. The water looks good but the form shows a mountain terrain. However, hard to avoid that. Model and dragon look good and the lighting is excellent. Good transparency setting for the sails.

I recommend that you set up an empty scene with all the settings you usually use or need and save it as "default.br5" in the same folder as the main program resides. In this way, each time you lauch Bryce, you have all your settings ready - particularly AA, which was obviously not engaged. Just see the steps at the underside of the Flying Duchman and less obvious on the reflections on the water.

Wonderful sky and clouds, love the whole idea. Hope you get your AA sorted out though.

Hey guys, I don't know what happened, I used AA and the image looked nice and smooth, not like the stepping I am seeing now. I very puzzled. Thanks for all the comments.

All this AA matter is becoming a kind of mistery with its intriguing storyline twists. I'm almost impatient to see your next render, Rebel. I do mean it.

Leaving the AA aside, the overall low saturation of the surroundings against the focused "golden" glow in the center gives this image the look of a fantasy painting. And that, Rebel, I highly appreciate!! There are some minor things you can tweak of course, though I don't want to spoil the great impression this image gives. As a single piece of needed criticism I would say that the dragon has to either have few more with him flying towards the fantasy Dirigible (to achieve the feeling of a dangerous chase) or to not be present at all. If you have photoshop installed, try searching and applying (just for the sake of experimenting) the Dry Brush filter [values of 0, 8, 2] or the Palette Knife [4, 3, 0] or even the Diffuse Glow [3, 6, 15] starting from the highest to the lowest of the three values. This is just one of for you to experiment with. Once again - I really like this image.
